Who is this for?

YANGG is for young Africans — students, entrepreneurs, advocates, and rising leaders — who refuse to wait for permission to shape their continent's future. If you believe Africa's next chapter belongs to its youth, you belong here.

Our history

From one bold idea
to a continental
movement

Founded in 2018 by Collins Ibeawuchi — a story that began with a single challenge to young Africans at a Model UN conference.

YANGG was founded in 2018 following a transformative and audacious initiative led by its founder, Collins Ibeawuchi, during his participation as Nigeria’s representative at a prestigious Model United Nations (MUN) Conference in Malaysia. While preparing for the conference, Collins recognised the remarkable presence of young African delegates from across the continent and saw an opportunity far greater than the conference itself: the possibility of building a united African youth movement committed to sustainable development, leadership, and continental transformation.

Driven by vision and purpose, Collins took the bold step of mobilising fellow African delegates through a podcast and open engagement call facilitated by the conference organisers. Rather than allowing African youth to gather only to discuss the continent’s challenges on an international stage, he challenged them to become active architects of Africa’s future by designing practical, locally driven solutions to issues such as poverty, education inequality, climate change, governance, and youth exclusion.

His message resonated powerfully. Within minutes, over 100 young Africans from different countries responded with enthusiasm, expressing a shared desire to collaborate, exchange ideas, and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development. What began as a spontaneous conversation quickly evolved into a visionary movement built on the belief that African youth should not merely participate in global conversations but should also lead transformative action within their communities and across the continent.

Recognising the need for a structured and sustainable platform, Collins spearheaded the formation of what would become the Young Africans Network for Global Goals (YANGG) — a pan-African youth network dedicated to advancing sustainable development, leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, and regional collaboration. Under his leadership, the network began building governance structures, strategic partnerships, and collaborative systems capable of connecting young changemakers across Africa around a shared mission for progress and impact.

Since its inception, YANGG has grown into a dynamic continental network of young leaders, entrepreneurs, development advocates, and innovators working collectively to drive grassroots transformation and sustainable development across Africa. Today, the organisation stands as a testament to the power of visionary youth leadership, bold thinking, and collaborative action in shaping Africa’s future.
