The Young Africans Network for Global Goals (YANGG) launched a five-month, continent-wide digital advocacy campaign to confront infibulation — one of the most severe forms of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) — and the silence and stigma that surround it. Led by the Office of the President and delivered in partnership with Circles for Advocacy and Team Illumination Africa, the campaign set out to raise awareness, amplify survivor voices, and mobilise young Africans to challenge a harmful traditional practice.
The initiative combined education with action: culturally contextualised graphics, videos, and infographics in multiple languages; live webinars and panels bringing together survivors, medical professionals, legal experts, and gender-rights advocates; and grassroots partnerships. The campaign reached over 220,000 people and engaged more than 3,000 youth leaders. Aligned with SDGs 3, 5, 10, and 16, it reflects YANGG's commitment to gender justice and the protection of women's and girls' rights.
